Merge Left

Thus, in forming an alliance with a political power, religion augments its authority of a few, and forfeits the hope of reigning over all.

PEW (June 14, 2012):

Do you see ‘Tax Cuts’ there? No? Me neither. How about ‘Tax Code Loopholes’? No? No. Apparently spending less on ‘Tax Cuts’ or closing tax code loopholes is not an option. Conservative hegemony at work as Paul would say.

As is typical, our conservative politics is an elite driven phenomenon. In a theocracy, things are justified by god’s will, in a monarchy, by the king’s will and in a democracy, by the people’s will. But in each case, you shouldn’t confuse justifications with explanations.

FWIW if all those thing at the top weren’t on the chopping block I suspect that last item would do better.
